It’s that time of year when things are in full bloom. I’m in the mood for adventure, magic, and a little romance. Here are five books I want to read to fully get into the Spring spirit this season.

5. Dreamslinger – Gracie Kim
“Amari and the Night Brothers meets Pokémon in this thrilling start to Graci Kim’s brand-new fantasy series where dragons and phoenixes roam the skies of Seoul; meals magically appear based on your mood; and dreams literally come to life“
Like are you kidding me? With that description and this beautiful cover, tell me you’re not curious (I was obsessed with Pokemon and it’s expansive world growing up, how could I possibly pass this up?).
In this, Kim introduces us to a new fantastical world that only a few can visit in their dreams. I imagine this world will give us some insight to different Korean mythologies and stories that I’ve been longing to see (and I always love to see a strong asian female character!).
4. Say You’ll Remember Me – Abby Jimenez
“From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Just for the Summer comes a playful yet deeply emotional romance where one date is all it takes for two people to know they’re perfect for each other . . . until one of them moves 2,000 miles away the next day.“
Abby Jimenez has had me in a chokehold these past few months of slowly going through her backlog of books. I guess you could say this is the start of a new obsession.
I am confident when I say this, I will read whatever this woman puts out. She has a talent of weaving together all these common romance tropes, making them her own, and making sure you ball your eyes out by the end.
I absolutely love her!
3. A Magic Steeped in Poison (Duology) – Judy I. Lin
“Judy I. Lin’s sweeping debut A Magic Steeped in Poison, first in a duology, is sure to enchant fans of Adrienne Young and Leigh Bardugo.“
In this, Ning travels to the imperial city to join a competition that revolves around the ancient magical art of tea-making. The prize granted is the only chance she sees to save her sister’s life.
This has been on my TBR ever since they announced its release date and that was YEARS ago. I don’t know why I’m so hesitant to read it. I’ve only heard great reviews. Maybe because I’m afraid I’ll like it so much and know its only two books and that I need more? Who knows. But the covers of these books are absolutely stunning and I just need to face my fears and read these beauties already.

“When children start to go missing in the local woods, a teen girl must face her fears and a past she can’t remember to rescue them in this atmospheric YA novel, Lost in the Never Woods from the author of Cemetery Boys.“
There’s something about Spring that puts me in the mood to read Peter Pan stories and/or retellings. I’ve read several retellings so far but haven’t quite fallen in love just yet. I’m hoping this might be the first!
1. The Fellowship of the Ring – J.R.R. Tolkien
“Begin your journey into Middle-earth.“
I grew up absolutely obsessed with the movies. I probably have hundreds of hours of watch time on The Lord of the Rings trilogy alone.
However I am embarrassed to admit that I haven’t fully read the books yet. I want to finally complete and cross off the series off my TBR list. I have read the first book but that was years ago and I have forgotten some details.
So it’s time for a reread and finally complete the series. This is the year!
